“It was a good year for Foss football,” said Jennifer Kubista, district Athletics and Activities director. “On National Letter of Intent signing day, the Foss Falcons had five young men heading off to college on football athletic scholarships. On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Jamal Byrd, Scott Crichton, Julian Cruell, Folauga Perosi and Jamaal Shakoor signed their letters of intent at Foss High School in front of family, friends, staff and administration. “This is a great day to be a Foss Falcon,“ Foss Athletic Director Tom Burmester said.
- Jamal Byrd, a Foss defensive back, will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy
- Scott Crichton, a Foss defensive end, will attend Oregon State University
- Julian Cruell, a Foss running back, will attend Central Washington University
- Folauga Perosi, a Foss line backer, will attend Eastern Oregon University
- Jamaal Shakoor, a Foss corner back, will also attend Eastern Oregon University
“This is a proud day for these young men and the work ahead of them will be challenging, yet fulfilling,” stated Thu Ament, the principal at Foss and also a Foss alumni football player. Ament played and coached football at Central Washington University.
With family and friends around, these five young men picked up their pens on the instruction of their current head coach at Foss, Ken Baker. All five signed their letters of intent and sealed their collegiate futures for the next few years.
